Introduced in 1996, Philosykos was created as an olfactory memory of a Greek summer at Mount Pelion. Its name means “friend of the fig tree” in Greek, reflecting the central idea behind the composition: not simply the fruit, but the complete living tree. Leaves, milky sap, bark, and wood combine to recreate the sensation of crossing a sun-warmed grove of wild fig trees on the way to the sea. Created by perfumer Olivia Giacobetti, Philosykos became one of Diptyque's defining fragrances and an influential interpretation of fig in modern perfumery, celebrated for transforming a Mediterranean landscape into an exceptionally naturalistic scent experience. Diptyque continues to describe it as an ode to the entire fig tree.
